The sun’s rays are
very powerful and will damage just about anything left outside. This is true
for backstroke flags as well.
If you are using our
backstroke flags in an indoor pool, then you don’t have to worry about the sun’s
rays fading your backstroke flags. We’ve had customers using our backstroke
flags indoors for nearly twenty years without any problems.
However, if you are
using our backstroke flags in an outdoor pool, then the sun will fade them over
time. This is especially true in hot, sunny, dry climates. The sun’s UV radiation
damages whatever it touches, causing colors to fade.
If you want the color of
your backstroke flags to last longer, the only way to do that is to reduce the amount
of time they are exposed to the sun. This means you will need to take down the
backstroke flags in between swim meets to keep them out of the sun. Many of our
customers with outdoor pools only use their custom dyed backstroke flags for swim
meets and keep them out of the sun the rest of the time. As a result, their
flags have kept their original color longer than if they were left in the sun
day after day.
